One of the questions we hear most is "I don't want to leave my stove running all day — is there another way?" The answer is yes. A simmer pot ritual doesn't require a stovetop at all — a crock pot or candle warmer works just as well, and for a lot of people, works even better.
Option 1: Slow cooker / crock pot
This is the easiest swap if you already own one.
- Fill your crock pot about ¾ full with water.
- Add your blend and set to low.
- Leave the lid off (or cracked) so the scent can actually escape into the room — this is the one step people forget.
- Let it run for several hours. Since it's low heat and enclosed, you can safely let it go longer than a stovetop without worrying about the water evaporating too fast.
This option is ideal for anyone who wants to set it and forget it for a full day — a crock pot holds heat steadily without needing to be checked as often as a stovetop pot.
Option 2: Candle warmer
If you have a wax or candle warmer sitting unused now that you're moving away from synthetic candles, it can double as a simmer vessel with a small adjustment.
- Use a small, heat-safe dish instead of wax — a shallow ceramic or glass bowl works well.
- Add a small amount of water and your blend.
- Place it on the warmer as you would a wax melt.
- Because the dish is small, you'll need to top off the water more often than a full pot — check it every hour or so.
This option is best for smaller spaces (a bedroom, office, or bathroom) where a full stovetop pot would be more than you need.
Which one should you use?
- No stovetop access or want all-day scent: crock pot
- Small space, already own a candle warmer: candle warmer
- Want the classic version: stovetop, still the simplest setup for most kitchens
However you simmer it, the blend itself is doing the same job — real ingredients, no synthetic fragrance, releasing scent naturally as they heat. The vessel is just a matter of what fits your space.
